The college bowl spectacular is finally posted so make sure to check it out! As for my 1-2 Hoops evening last night, I’m sickened by the Spurs 4th quarter collapse, but can’t be too upset about the way the young Bulls ran with the Suns. While nobody will probably agree, Pax should look to trade Mr. 40-point Gordon while his stock is skyrocketing…He’s going to command max. $$$s very soon and I can’t see paying him for only playing one end of the floor. As for tonight, I was thinking of just playing the Clippers/Heat contest (which is a Greg Gamble 4-star lock) but realized there are too many hours in the evening and I’m not very skilled at reading or arts and crafts. Lucky for you, I found two additional winners to make the night complete... www.insideplays.com
LOS ANGELES CLIPPPERS (-2.5) @ MIAMI HEAT
The Clippers had a 3-game winning streak snapped last night in Orlando, but will have an opportunity to redeem themselves in the state of Florida against the Shaq’less and Wade’less Heat. Elton Brand and Chris Kaman should be way too much for Alonzo and Udonis to handle down-low, while 6-7 Shaun Livingston should run the point with ease against the shorter Jason Williams and the slow-footed Gary Payton. As for Corey Maggette who has been rumored to Riley’s squad of slow veterans, he’s averaged 17 points off the bench over his last five and should be looking to impress his potential suitors. The Heat are totally overmatched without Wade, who is listed as doubtful on the scouting report, and have lost three-in-a-row including their last contest by 29 points to the Magic …Clippers by 6-12 points.
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS @ UTAH JAZZ (-12)
The 76ers had a huge emotional victory against Iverson and the suspended Nuggets squad last night, and I’m guessing they’re going to be a little flat tonight. Kyle “Ashton Kucher” Korver was filthy last night, but is really the only player capable of lighting up the scoreboard and will be matched-up against defensive specialist AK-47 tonight. In addition, while Boozer has been a beast on the block all season, Memhet Okur has started to catch-fire averaging 21 ppg over his last 6 and shooting almost 50% from the 3-pt line in December. This should be a terrible match-up for Sixers center Samuel Dalembert who is the only real defensive presence in the paint for Mo Cheeks…Jazz by 16-22 points
PENN QUAKERS @ NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS (-22.5)
The Quakers haven’t played since the 23rd of December and have lost 3 out of their last 5, including a 17 point loss at home to Fordham. As for the Tar Heels and their 9-game win streak, 4 out of their last 5 victories have been by more than 30 points and they continue to look disciplined even against mid-level competition. Roy Williams has freakish athletes at almost every position that will easily handle the freakishly smart minds of the Ivy Leaguers…Tar Heels by 30-36 points.
