Before I jump into my plays today, I’ve been asked by many of my loyal readers to move all gratuitous photos off the opening/newsletter intro of the site. While I think in today’s day an age showing a little leg or nice thong pic should be acceptable almost anywhere, I will oblige and keep all the most entertaining pieces of art above my picks. Now that we’ve covered the human resources department of our show, let’s make some cash so we can have some prawns, caviar, and Hennessey for lunch tomorrow. After a 2-1 evening last night, I was tempted to make a few more plays today…but didn’t see too much jumping off opening lines this morning. While I’ve got 3 picks for you, the first one seems like a gift from the Asian massage parlor that you didn’t see coming. I’m dropping three times as much on my first pick, and while that’s not really a lock…I’ll tell you it was tomorrow if it wins!
GOLDEN ST. WARRIORS (+2.5) @ CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
The Cavs have been awful of late with LeBron in the line-up, and word is around the Olde English Cooler he’s taking a few games off to rest his toe. Losing a star like King James means so much more to the Cavs than losing Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett because the entire offense is run with the ball in his hands. As for the Warriors, they’ve looked improved after the trade for Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, S. Jasikevicius, & Josh Powell and they now have one of the deepest benches in league. I’d even like the Warriors chances with LeBron playing, but if he’s not this could be easier than taking money from a Cecil Fielder…Warriors by 6-12 points.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS (+8) @ MIAMI HEAT
The Bucks just got Mo Williams & Charlie V. back, and Earl Boykins has been solid since coming over from the Nuggets. As for the Heat, besides D-Wade and 15-20 minutes from Shaq, Miami is having trouble finding anybody to put the ball in the basket. In addition, both G. Payton and J. Williams are questionable tonight so I have not idea who is going to be chasing Earl, Mo, and Charlie Bell all night. This should be a close contest from start to finish, but I just can’t see how the Heat will cover this many points…Miami by 1-6 points.
Is this chick and the Running Rebels ready for the Colorado weather?
UNLV RUNNING REBELS @ COLORADO ST RAMS (-1)
What do you know…I picked a home team! The Rams have flown under the radar this year and have two solid 7-footers and cast of guards that can shoot. UNLV has also been solid this year, but has struggled against bigger opponents with a starting frontcourt that is 6-6 and 6-8. Also, hopefully the 30-35 degree weather change makes the Vegas boyz a little tight and the Rams home-court lives up to the hype…CST by 4-10 points
LOS ANGELES LAKERS @ NEW YORK KNICKS (-2)
Phil Jackson and the Lakers were shocked to learn that Kobe will be suspended tonight for their contest at the Garden. I'm not a Knickerbocker fan...but tough to see how the Lakers can manage to beat Curry, Crawford, Lee, & Marbury with only a rusty Lamar Odom...Knicks by 4-10 points.
