Greg Gamble’s Hoop Special: 127-106 ATS

Can Vince rise above the trade rumors...
Vince.jpg
...and come up with a win tonight?

Ouch…Last night was more painful then getting that little Q-Tip in college when they check for the opposite of happy endings! They only guy that won me some dinero was Derek Ravio and Michigan State…or maybe that was Drew Neitzel dropping bombs. But just like my Homeboy Mr. Bobbit in “John Wayne Bobbitt Un-Cut”…I’m a fighter and I will strap it on again tonight. Enough chit-chat, I stayed up late with a couple glasses of scotch and a little lip candy…care of the Bear, and researched like I was charge of finding the girls for the SI Swimsuit Addition. Its Wednesday fellaz, the day Greggy G puts the women and children to bed and goes looking for frickin’ dinner…and dinner tomorrow is going to be King Crab Legs in a Butter-Truffle sauce after playing the 8 games I’ve got tonight!

Hornets.jpg
Chris Paul's play is too pretty to lose 2 in-a-row!

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (+3) @ NEW JERSEY NETS
Last time I lost on the Hornets, they came back and covered big-time the next night. Overall, since Chris Paul has returned from injury they haven’t lost 2 in-a-row and have won 6 of 9. As for the undermanned Nets, Kidd is questionable tonight and I can’t see good things happening against Mr. Paul if he’s still got a creaky back. Also, the trade rumors swirling around Kidd & Carter can’t help matters in New Jersey, not to mention a frontcourt that is non-existent. Finally, I noticed some big-time rust from the post All-Star weekend from all teams, which leads me to believe we should see a lot of covers from teams who played last night, against teams in their first post-Vegas action…Hornets by 3-9 points

Knicks.jpg
Betting on the Knicks are like the fat girl in college...you did it and had some fun, but you will never admit it!

NEW YORK KNICKS (+3) @ PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
While nobody wants to admit it, Isiah and Knickerbockers haven’t been playing too shabby of late. Zeke finally seems set on a rotation, actually has his misfits passing the ball around little, and are quietly sneaking into the playoff picture. The Knicks got a nice victory yesterday over Orlando, utilizing the efficient play of their young frountcourt (Curry & Lee: 34 pts, 22 reb, 12-16 fgs), and have started to take the ball to the hole with some authority (30-37 fts). Also, similar to my Hornets play tonight, I expect some rust on the 76ers follow the “Black Thanksgiving” break…Knicks by 3-9 points.

Raptors.jpg
The Raptors have been quietly hiding some talent!

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS @ TORONTO RAPTORS (-3.5)
The Raptors still are not getting the ATS love from Vegas, while LeBron will always add a few points to a Cavs spread. Toronto runs a solid 9 deep on the roster and has some decent defenders in Mo P and Anthony Parker to slow down King James. They’ve won 7 of 8 overall, 8 in-a-row at home, and it looks like Big Z will be out along with starting point guard Daniel Gibson (Questionable)…Raps by 6-12 points.

Blazers.jpg
Zach Randolph is a little chunky, but still can get it done!

PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS (+10) @ LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Back on the Greggy G post All-Star trend as the Blazers beat Utah last night, while the Lakers were fielding questions about Jason Kidd coming to town and how Vlad Radmanovic separated his shoulder slipping on patch of ice (…maybe it was at Brian Griese’s house?). I know betting on the Blazers is harder than justifying to your girl that you need the disco-ball in the living room, but they’re close to the getting into the playoff mix and are much too deep for the Lake Show…oh yeah, and 9 points seems like an awful lot for Phil Jackson’s struggling crew…Lakers by 1-7 points

Rams.jpg
I'm not exactly sure what the Rams look like, but I've seen enough to be confident in my choice!

RHODE ISLAND RAMS (+13) @ XAVIER MUSKETEERS
While Xavier has been awesome of late, they are still stuck in second place in the conference. You know is ahead of them...you guessed it…Rhode Island. The Rams have been a sleeper this season that may have some of the best young shooters in the country. 6-8 Jr. Will Daniels (17 ppg 6 rpg 44 3pt%), So. G Jimmy Baron (15 ppg 52 3pt%), and 6-7 So. Joe Mbang (16 ppg 6 rpg 55 3pt% over his last 3 games) actually played at Kansas earlier in the year and only lost by 11. Hey, I love any team that starts with X, but 13 points just seems like too many for a battle between the top two teams in conference…Xavier by 4-10 points

Buckeyes.JPG
The Buckeyes are immature, but sooo talented!

PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS @ OHIO STATE BUCKEYES (-19)
The #1 Buckeyes were up 21 points in the first half at Penn State last week, before packing it in and nearly losing the ball game. Thanks to that performance, I have a feeling the Greg Oden & his sweet shooting guards may win by 40 at home tonight. Especially after seeing the Badgers lose to the Spartans, Thad Matta will make sure his boys don’t look past the 10-15 Nittany Lions who just lost at Wisconsin on Saturday by 26…Buckeyes by 28-34 points

Salukis.jpg
The Salukis play is almost perfect!

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS SALUKIS (-8) @ INDIANA ST. LARRY BIRDS
After a decent start in conference for Indiana St., Larry the Legend’s former squad has lost 11 of 12, including the last 4 by double digits. As for the 23-5 Salukis, they’re one of the hottest teams in the country riding a 9 game winning streak and coming-off an impressive win at #12 Butler on Saturday. Once again, watching the Badgers lose and 2nd place Creighton of the Missouri Valley piss-away a huge lead on the road to Illinois St. last night…I just think Southern will be fired-up to prove they’re worth the #15 ranking in the polls…Salukis by 12-18 points.

Illini.jpg
Rumor has it that the Illini have been partying too much!

MICHIGAN WOLVERINES(+8) @ ILLINOIS FIGHTING ILLINI
Since the crazy automobile accident that has sidelined Brian Carlwell & Jamar Smith, the Illini have not looked as sharp. In addition, in all newspapers across Illinois some crazy details have come-out about the car-crash and you can’t expect Bruce Webber’s crew to be as focused as they should. As for the Wolverines, they finally got the monkey off their back in conference having won 2 of 3, including an impressive victory at home against then #19 Indiana. I know the Illini are awesome at home, but I just think this has the makings for a classic finish in Champagne…Wolverines in a buzzer-beater.
