TEXAS A&M AGGIES (-2.5) @ OKLAHOMA SOONERS
As a Cyclone grad, I watched the Sooners lose to an undermanned and pretty lousy Iowa St. squad just a few day after they barely pulled off a victory at Baylor. As for Aggies, they are the real frickin' deal and in their last two Big 12 road contests they beat Nebraska by double digits and shocked the Jayhawks. While they lost on a last second shot by Texas Tech this week, they actually played pretty well and I expect them to bounce back...Aggies by 6-12 points
MEMPHIS TIGERS (-4) @ GONZAGA BULLDOGS
The 22-3 #9 Tigers have quietly been climbing the polls all season and are on a 14-game win streak where most of them haven't been close. As for the Zig-Zags, they were finally looking somewhat average this season and then lost their star power forward Josh Heytvelt (16 ppg 8 rpg) and only low-post threat when he was arrested with the evil weed and magic mushrooms (I want to party this cat!). In their first tough contest without him, they lost by double digits at home to Santa Clara. Overall, Memphis has too much athleticism for the Bulldogs and are much too talented down-low for this to be very close...Tigers by 7-13 points
FLORIDA GATORS (-6) @ VANDERBILT COMMODORES
During the #1 Gators 17 game winning streak, they've always seem to dominate following a sloppy performance. Against Alabama on V-Day (no, not the day you took a freshman to the senior prom) the Gators were down 18 points in the first half before deciding to dominate the rest of the contest and eventually won by 9. While Vanderbilt has been pretty solid at home this season and played the Gators tough on the road a couple weeks ago (Florida won by 10), I just think the Gators are due to hand-out a nice azz kickin'...Gators by 8-14 points
...I've got three games for ya Homeboyz. Check em' out, IT"S PAYDAY!
UNC TAR HEELS (-5.5) @ BOSTON COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES
Some of you may think I'm just bitter because I lost on BC this week, but they reality of it is some of their dudes just don't play much defense. In addition, with the Golden Eagles starting center booted from the the squad, who probably was the best defensive center in the NCAA this season, the Eagles will not be able to handle Hansbrough & Wright. While I do love point guard Tyrese Rice's offensive game for BC, watch him play defense..or not play defense...Tar Heels by 10-16 points.
NORTHERN IOWA PANTHERS @ NEVADA WOLFPACK (-9)
This is a statement game for #10 Nevada and the WAC versus the usually strong Northern Iowa squad and the Missouri Valley. Unfortunetly, the Panthers lost their head coach to Cyclones after last year and are currently riding a 4 game losing streak, with a lose by 11 at Creighton in their last contest and at home to a very average Drake squad on Feb 8th. To make matters worse, 6-11 center Nick Fazekas is a legitimate player of the year candidate (21 ppg, 12 rpg, 58 fg%, 49 3pt%) and will want to show he can dominate a UNI squad that's starting center is 6-6. Don't know why this spread is so low, but I do know I throwing some coin on a Wolfpack squad that will make some noise in the tourney...Pack by 14-20 points
TEMPLE OWLS (+6) @ GEORGE WASHINGTON COLONIALS
GW is still getting points because of last year's success, while they've lost 4 in-a-row, including their last contest at home to Xavier by almost 30. As for the Owls, they've been playing solid ball over the last 3 weeks, not counting their last contest at LaSalle, Against LaSalle, their best player Dionte Christmas (22 ppg, 44 3pt%) struggled mightily from deep going 3-12 from downtown. Come on, how many of you have two bad X-Mas's in a row...I know I haven't...Owls in an upset
