Everybody have a nice weekend? You know I did hittin’ 6 of my 8 picks on Saturday & Sunday and enjoying the Big 10 Tourney thanks to my Homeboy Floss’s kick-azz tickets. While everybody will be hardly working this week as they incorrectly fill out their brackets, Greggy G will be working overtime like the former LSU women’s ball coach to breakdown the NIT and the Association. Only a couple of games in action tonight, and hopefully, I’ll actually get some action of my own if I can put together a nice meal for my lady. Game-on BEEATCHES! While most people hate Monday’s, to me it’s just the start of another potential week that could land me on Robin Leech’s Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous by next Monday!
NEW JERSEY NETS (-2.5) @ MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Similar to the Magic, the Nets are a game out of the last playoff spot in the East and just got back Richard Jefferson for the stretch run. I know the Nets will struggle up-front against Pau Gasol, but he looks pretty disinterested of late and I expect the Nets to run out every big they have on the roster to slow him down. In addition, the Grizz have some of the weakest point guards in the league (Damon Stoudamire, Chucky Atkins, & Junior Harrington) and if Jason “I used to luv my wife” Kidd cannot completely dominate these guys tonight the Nets are not making the playoffs. Finally, the only other scorers for Memphis are Mike Miller & Rudy Gay, who will be trying to match points with Vinsanity and RJ all night. I wouldn’t have touched this game earlier in the year, but with the Nets desperate in the standings and the Grizz unsure who will be around and who will be coaching them next year…tough not to take the team with a few all-stars…Nets by 5-11 points
ORLANDO MAGIC (-1.5) @ CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The Magic are a ½ game out of the final playoff spot in the East and are desperate to get back on the winning track. As for the Cats o Bob, they’ve lost 8 in-a-row, including at home Saturday to a 15-win Grizzly squad by 8. Dwight Howard is due for a 20 point, 20 rebound, and 5 block performance and shouldn’t have any trouble with Charlotte’s frontcourt who will probably be without Emeka Okafor again tonight. In addition, while Grant Hill doesn’t have the same game he had in Detroit, you have to think his leadership will help them pull this one out tonight…Magic by 4-10 points
HOUSTON ROCKETS @ PHOENIX SUNS (-6.5)
The Rockets are my favorite team to bet against playing on back-to-back nights. They’ve lost their last two straight-up off that trend (at home to the Spurs by 23, and at home to the frickin’ Celtics) and are still trying to get Yao Ming back into game shape. Not to mention T-Mac’s creaky back will be hounded by Raja Bell and Mutombo will be a non-factor with the speed of Suns. While Steve Nash & Co. haven’t been blowing teams out as much lately, they just got back Boris Diaw (back) and Shawn Marion (hand) and I think they’ll put it all together tonight against the slow, methodical Van Gundy show…Suns by 10-16 points
