*Greggy G’s 2007 Pigskin Picks: 2-0 ATS
Once again, my boss messed-up my fantasy football analysis with a stupid development project. Luckily, I researched my picks and lingerie last night and have 3 beautiful winners for ya. As for the Cubbies tonight, a huge series with the Brew Crew and the return of the only man who chews more gum than Andy Dick. Yes, Alfonso is back and ready to swing his 60 oz bat and make every flyball to left an awesome adventure. While I’m surprised Sweet Lou doesn’t force him to slide down the order, who am I to argue with a 64 year-old dude wearing baseball pants on his birthday. Once again, sorry for no football banter, but I degenerate has to do…what a degenerate has to do.
ATLANTA BRAVES (-1.5 runs) (+105) @ FLORIDA MARLINS
The Braves tallied 13 runs & 16 hits in Florida yesterday, and have the luxury of facing Marlin rookie Rick VandenAWFUL (4-4, 6.95) tonight. Still chasing both the Mets and the Wild Card spot, I expect them to keep the bats red-hot. As for the Marlins, they’ve lost 12 of their last 13 and look like they’ve completely given-up. Throw-in the fact that John Smoltz (12-6, 3.01) is heading to the hill and this one just seems too easy….Braves by 3-5 runs
DETROIT TIGERS @ KANSAS CITY ROYALS (UNDA 9.5)
After a dominated performance last night against the Yanks and Mike Mussina, I expect a letdown tonight in KC. The Royals have their new ace taking the hill (Brian Bannister 10-7, 3.28) and only allowed 4 hits & 1 run thru 7 against in Detroit last month. As for the Tigers, Nate Robertson finally looked like the pitcher he was at the beginning of the year in his last start going 8.2 innings and only allowing 4 hits and zero runs…oh yeah, and the Royals only have 3 guys in the line-up I’ve ever heard of…Tigers/Royals 4-7 total runs
MILWAUKEE BREWERS @ CHICAGO CUBS (OVA 10)
First off, it’s not like I’m not going to bet on this game…what, you expect me to watch-it and read all the text-messages I get from my Cubbie friends and not have some coin it? Brew Crew starter Jeff Suppan (8-11, 4.85) gave-up 5 runs and 7 hits thru 5 innings in his last start versus the Cubs and hasn’t won a decision since June 22. Throw-in some extra hype in Wrigley and the return of Alfonso and I see him struggled to get through the first few innings. As for Cubs southpaw Rich Hill (1-1, 4.58 in his last 3 starts), he should also be a little tight tonight and it doesn’t help that he lasted only 3 innings in his last performance against the Brewers…Cubs/Brewers 12-15 total runs
