I’ve officially decided I hate exhibition football. While it’s nice to see some real hitting and check out that 7th round draft-pick who’s replacing an expensive veteran, nothing is more of a “back-tat on chick with a boyfriend”-tease than the preseason. I tried to watch my Bears at least three different times last night, but always ended-up on either the Iron Chef or the Girls Next Door. I'd rather watch the NBA’s Las Vegas Rookie Revue than 120 NFL players I’ve never heard of…and will probably never see again!
Anyway, enjoy the Sunday Funday and hopefully you enjoyed my 2-1 performance on the ATS diamond yesterday. Dollar-Dollar Bill Y’all!
SAN DIEGO PADRES @ CINCINNATI REDS (UNDA 8.5)
This is the time of year when great arms become dominate. Just like we saw from Brandon Webb yesterday, I expect the same type of dominance from Sir Peavy…the nastiest pitcher in baseball (12-5, 2.21 ERA, #1 in Ks). Peavy has only allowed 1 run in his last 3 starts and is working on a double-digit scoreless innings streak. As for the Reds’ hurler Bronson Arroyo (5-12, 4.51), he threw just unda 7 scorless inning in his last start and should look even better against the light-hitting Padres…Padres/Reds 4-6 total runs
MILWAUKEE BREWERS @ HOUSTON ASTROS (OVA 9.5)
The Brew Crew’s finally back on track and should be looking for a field-day against the 40-year old Woody Williams (6-12, 5.12). As for the Astros, they shouldn’t have trouble knocking the slumping Claudio Vargas (4.97 ERA) around for at least 4 or 5 runs…Brewers/Astros 11-13 runs
CHICAGO CUBS @ COLORADO ROCKIES
I’ve played the Rockies in all three so far (1-2), and fully expect the Rockies to tie this series up today. Especially without Ramirez and Soriano, I can’t see how the Cubbies will be able to keep-up with stacked line-up of Colorado…Rockies by 3-5 runs
