ATS PICKS - MLB: 116-91 - NFL: 14-11 - College Picks: 16-19
While Indy didn’t need the tease, adding 6 points to 12 different teams was a nice gift and gave me an 8-4 record for the weekend. While a couple colleges in Texas were a major disappointment on Saturday, watchin’ my home-town Bears on Sunday was definitely the most depressing act of the weekend. Griese throwing 3 picks in the endzone, Cedric running with as much passion as the Tuesday morning shift at a strip-club, and Jon Kitna’s creepy smile at game’s end…not exactly what I call a Sunday Funday. As for tonight’s match-up, I teased Denver early in the week with Indy, but also feel pretty confident about a straight-up play in the contest. Oh yeah, and I found some Bronco cheerleaders to match…HOLLA!
GREEN BAY PACKERS @ DENVER BRONCOS (-3)
Following the bye week, the Broncos came-up with a huge victory last week against a solid Steeler squad. Despite two picks, Cutler was unbelievably efficient (22-29 3 Tds) and kept drives alive with his arm and legs (41 rush yards) in converting 7 of 10 3rd downs. Mix-in a running game that always seems crank-out yardage no matter who’s in the backfield and two TEs (Daniel Graham & Tony Scheffeler) that always seem to be wide-open, and Denver’s balanced-attack should move the ball on a solid Green Bay defense. As for Favre and his one-dimensional offense, his magic may not look as sharp with Champ Bailey (questionable) & Dre’ Bly (probable), two of the best cover-corners in the game, hounding his WRs. While Favre has always played well under the lights, his ball doesn’t have the same zip it once did and teams aren’t putting an extra guy in the box to slow-down their pathetic run game (3.3 p/carry). While the Broncos defensive front has not lived-up to expectations early in the year, they actually did a decent job against the Steelers dominant ground-attack and have some youngsters on the outside that are improving by the week. I wouldn’t call this a 5-star lock, but home-field at Mile High is one of the biggest advantages in sports…next to Jack Trice Stadium (Iowa St.) of course.
