College Picks: 8-9 ATS - NFL Picks: 7-7 ATS - MLB Picks: 113-90 ATS
As I slipped a game unda .500 for the football season last night, I realized I can no longer address the situation ala Isiah Thomas and simply smile to the camera, cover-up my bad decisions with laughter, and sexual harass women in the workplace. Just like WR Bernard Berrian’s reasoning that he’s dropped more balls than an Amsterdam window-model because of a lack of concentration…I too need to stop reading books, going to church, and spending countless hours as a philanthropist…it’s time to do nuttin’ but study the ATS line and drink with a purpose rather than relaxation. Just like the college days, it’s time to light the candles, crank up the Enya, sip on some Cabernet, and study like Sam “Ace” Rothstein is my boss. As for the baseball playoffs, is it me or do the Rockies have a lil Golden St. Warriors vibe going? The atmosphere in Colorado was something out of Disney sports movie and their roster is loaded with more young stars than a Vegas Pool Party at the Hard Rock. As for the Cubbies, you have to luv the draw of the D-backs since their line-up is scattered with sub .250 batting averages and ugly-azz uniforms. If Big Z can out-duel Mr. Webb tomorrow, this series is ova! Anyway, we have college football everyday this week, as well as October baseball, so let’s make the book nervous by Thursday and ready to pay-out by Tuesday!
MARSHALL THUNDERING HURD (+3) @ MEMPHIS TIGERS
First off, my condolences to the entire Taylor Bradford family in the tragic shooting of the Memphis Tiger lineman/fullback early Monday morning. Obviously, it’s tough to jump into a breakdown under these circumstances, but I usually let bodog decide if something is too serious for wagering interest.
Before the horrific event, the Memphis papers had all but fired Head Coach Tommy West after a 31-6 halftime lead at Arkansas St. last Thursday dissolved into a 2nd straight season of sitting at (1-3, 0-1). Only four days later and dealing with the loss of a popular teammate, I can’t believe their still playing tonight and I can’t see how they even had an opportunity to make-up, let-alone, study a game plan. While Marshall’s season record-wise is even worse (0-4, 0-0), they’ve had 2 weeks to prepare for this one and can actually be sitting pretty in Conference USA with a victory. Not to mention, 3 out of their 4 opponents have been pretty solid squads (Miami FL, W. Virginia, and Cincinnati). Sr. QB Bernard Morris has actually been extremely efficient for the Thundering Herd (1,087 yards 68 %, 7 Tds, 4 Ints) and he has two big-time weapons to throw to in TE Cody Slate (25 rec 321 yrds 2 Tds) and Darius Passmore (22 rec 315 yrds 3 Tds). As for the Tigers, Sr. QB Martin Hankins has looked worse as the season has progressed (832 yrds 61% 5 Tds 5 Ints), which has resulted in the offense using more trick-plays than the Harlem Globetrotters. Tough to invest against a team that may have a ton of emotion tonight, but playing their 3rd game in 11 days…I just think that’s too much to ask for this struggling squad.
Final Score: MARSHALL 33 MEMPHIS 24
