SAN ANTONIO SPURS @ UTAH JAZZ (-2)
After watching these two the last few weeks, the opening line doesn’t make any sense unless Vegas just thinks the Defending Champs are overdue. While the Jazz have won 4-straight and seem even more lethal with Kyle Korver in the rotation knocking down 3s (last 5 games: 12-26 behind the arc & 13 ppg), the Spurs have been a .500 team over their last 10 and were destroyed at home on Saturday by the Hornets. Even though the Jazz played last night (8-point win at Houston), they’ll be pumped for this showdown and you know the Salt Lake Crazies will be riled-up as well. David West absolutely destroyed the Timmy D and boys down-low Saturday (32 point an 15-19 Fgs), and I expect more of the same from Captain Carlos, especially with Mehmet Okur probing the perimeter and creating more space in the middle. In addition...
In addition, Ginobili & Bowen have been awful of late from the perimeter, which means Tony Longoria will need to dominate for Pops squad to pull this one out…and I can’t see my Homeboy D-Williams letting that happen…Jazz by 5-9 points
DENVER NUGGETS @ NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (-8.5)
The Hornets seem to be on mission to take control of the West and have been virtually unstoppable over the last few weeks. During their 8-game win-streak only one game has been closer than 14-points, and tonight, they play an undermanned Nugget squad that lost yesterday in Dallas. CP3 should have a field-day against veteran Anthony Carter, while Tyson Chandler will look to prove he’s the best rebounding/shot-blocking lanky center in the league when facing an overused Marcus Camby. As for Carmelo, he’s questionable tonight, but even if he plays I have a feeling it’ll take some time for A.I and the Nuggets to adjust to his presence…Hornets by 12-16 points
LOUISVILLE CARDINALS (+1.5) @ UCONN HUSKIES
The Huskies are coming off an emotional victory at Indiana Saturday and seemed amazed to have played so well without leading scorer Jerome Dyson & back-up PG Doug Wiggins. While UConn has played great after a slow-start in the Big East, they’ve thrived against teams that cannot handle their height in the frontcourt. Tonight, they face a Cardinal squad with more depth in the frontcourt than anybody in the land, and a coach that has lit a fire under his underperforming backcourt. While the Huskies always play tough at home, I believe the victory at Indiana actually might have sapped some energy and expect the backcourt suspensions to finally take their toll …Louisville by 6-10 points
"The Daily Rant"!
By Money Mike
How about Lebron taking control of the game in the 4th quarter for the Cavs last night! Kobe couldn't have liked that...especially since the last shot was made over him because he was playing off King James because Lebron beat several Lakers off the dribble and went straight to the cup earlier in the 4th. Way to step up LB!
Has anybody else had enough of the Brady saga? Does it matter that he didn't practice all last week? No...the rest will probably do him good! He will practice this week and be plenty ready for the Giants.
If Tiger's performance this weekend is any indication of this year's golf season.....the rest of the pros can count on finishing 2nd the rest of the year!
I know it's still a long way to go but can anybody believe the best team in the west is the New Orleans Hornets? wow.....great job Byron Scott!
The big question right now on the college hardwood is can Memphis and Kansas run the table to the NCAA tournament? Well, Memphis only has one more ranked team on their schedule (in state rival Tennessee) ...other than that I don't really see this squad losing to anyone else. Kansas still has Texas and Texas A&M currently ranked #12 and 16 respectively. It will be fun to watch!
Stay tuned tomorrow for a continuation of the NFL divisional breakdowns for next year (AFC South).
