Saturday proved to be another 50/50 day on the hardcourt, but the action was great. And while sitting in my recliner with a stiff drink I learned a few things….the Iowa Hawkeyes are still in the bottom of the Big Ten like I thought before, EXCEPT the fact that Frank Lickliter has his team playing way better than their talent level, which means I am taking a look at them every game just to see if the line looks obnoxious. The other bit of learning for me was that lines above 15 points just don’t seem to be in favor of the favorite, I think conference play puts the squeeze on these games and I am looking at the underdog a lot on anything 15-plus in the future. On to Sunday Funday……
Penn State +18 @ Indiana
There is no doubt in my mind that Flash Gordon will lead the Hoosiers to a ‘W’ today, but like the fat guy sitting next to you on the plane, this one will be closer than the Vegas gods are predicting. Gordon will get his 20+ today, but the rest of the Hoosiers won’t do a whole lot cause the Nittany Lions put bodies on the glass and have a 10 man rotation that will allow everyone to stay fresh, especially in the paint. Indiana won’t get above 75 points which means PSU only has to get me 58, and their averaging 70 on the year. Lions lose by 10.
Marquette teased to +6.5 @ Connecticut
I really don’t know who is going to win this one, both have a great starting group(9 of the 10 starters are averaging double figures), so this one will come down to who shows up on the bench. Either way, Marquette is way better than Louisville made them look on Thursday, and giving them 6.5 in any Big East tilt is good enough on most days.
NY Football Giants teased to +14 @ Green Bay
I really would like to see Favre one last time in tha big show, but these Giants have been playing football that is tough to be beat. Eli began maturing into a top level QB late in the season and the front 4 on defense has been giving every offensive lineman fits, which means Brett could easily walk away with 3 picks in this one. Giving the Giants 14 in this one is money in the bank.
