It’s all college hoops today fellas, and I’m spreading the luv across many conferences as we start to dig into who will be the powerhouses and who will be the bottom dwellers. I know I’m focusing on the round ball today, mainly cause I’m a boob man, but don’t forget about the NFL. I am declaring January as the official whiskey and rocks month, so grab one and begin your slow drink cause it’s sports all day long. Good luck fellas.
Oregon State @ Arizona State -13
The Sun Devils have proven early that they are more than a football team this sports season. Coming out of the gates at 11-2(10-0 at home) they will be a force to be dealt with in the Pac 10 this year. And they are doing it with their stifling defense that only gives up 56 points a game…10th best in the nation. When they have the ball they are led by James Harden, a shifty guard that is averaging 18 pts, 2 steals, 6 boards, and 45% from behind the arc, trust me, the guy is smooth to watch. Even though the Beavers have the best mascot name(unless you are a switch hitter, then it’s the Gamecocks), it won’t be enough to stay close today. They will struggle to get past the 50 point mark while ASU puts up at least 70 on their home court. Sun Devils by 18.
Louisville Cardinal -2.5 @ Kentucky Wildcats
Pitino vs. Gilespie is what this one is all about, and unfortunately for Kentucky, this solid Louisville squad suffered an unexpected loss to Cincy earlier this week cause Pitino doesn’t lose two in a row very often. But what I like about Louisville this year is that they have 5 players averaging double digits and their D is unbelievable when playing on the road at 57pts(5th in the nation). If the under is around 140 make sure and take that too, cause in this matchup the last 6 games have went under this magic number, plus Louisville has gone under in 7 of its last 9. If you need an additional bonus, you can bet your life that Ashley Judd will be in the crowd, if that ain’t perfection I don’t know what is. Pitino by 7.
Iowa Hawkeyes @ Wisconsin Badgers teased down to -13
The Hawks have lost more players this year than Florida States football squad. They will suit up 8 players today in Madison, most of which would be walk-ons for respectable squads. You may look at how the Hawks played the Hoosiers tough on Wednesday, but what you don’t see is that they were down by 17 with 2 minutes to go when the Hoosiers fell asleep. Meanwhile the Badgers rolled up Michigan and have enough young talent to run circles around Iowa, and they will go up and down the court today to tire out this depleted Hawks squad. Badgers by 20.
Creighton teased up to +7 @ SW Missouri State
I like Creighton straight up in this one, so with this one at 7 points it looks like Mena Suvari laying in a bed of roses in American Beauty. The Blue Jays are a perennial power, and teams like that win the games they should, and this one they will. Creighton by 5.
