LAST SUNDAY: (1-1)
SEASON: (NCAA 29-16)
Good Saturday my friends. Let me start today with a portion of a song that helps bring us degenerates back to our foundation…..”She is so clean, I am so derty, I’m so ugly, she’s so perty, I never thought that she would let me get it, damn I can’t believe she finally let me hit it”. I don’t know of better words to explain what 95% of the male population is thinking every waking moment. Now on to the real reason you clicked on IS.com, after a .500 outing last weekend I find the best picks primarily in the major conferences across the nation. I have five for you today so click below to find out what free ATS winners I have for you. There ain’t nuttin’ better than a winner for each one of those mid afternoon drinks…..
Purdue -8 @ Northwestern
At this point in the season, I don’t know how anyone can talk about Matt Painter and not say ‘coach of the year’ in the same sentence. The great thing about him is that he prepares the Boilers for each game like a mad scientist, absolutely no let-downs allowed. Robbie Hummel is playing like an all star as of late and that will continue today since Northwestern won’t have anyone that can hang with him. The best the Wildcats can do is Craig Moore(13 pts) and Kevin Coble(15 pts), which seems respectable, except for the fact that they are all the firepower that the Purple Cats can muster. Did I mention that Northwestern’s closest game in the Big Ten has been a 10 point loss to lowly Michigan, and this is no Michigan team. Boilers roll early and often to win by 18.
Cal @ Arizona State -4
I have been watching ASU all year, and I will be the first to admit that they went into a horrific slump in January. But the key to these losses is that it was a slump and not who they really are. What is more important is that they are back in stride with wins at Zona and at home against a hot Stanford squad. James Harden has brought back his early season form by scoring 23, 25, & 26 in three of the last five games. He also decided to throw up 27 against Cal earlier this year in a 9 point win at Cal. The Bears on the other hand have created a slide of their own with double digit losses their last 2 times out, do you really think it is going to get any better today. Just close your eyes and pretend that Cal is the drunken clam in the corner, someone is going to pounce on her, and today that someone is wearing Sun Devil home whites. ASU by 13.
I also like Drake at -2.5 @ UNI. Drake is coming off a tough loss, only their 2nd of the season. Keno Davis will have his club ready, I’m predicting a 10 point road win for the Bulldogs.
Colorado teased to +28.5 @ Kansas
Just two short weeks ago these teams hit the hardcourt with the rock ‘em sock ‘em Jayhawks posting a 13 point victory in Boulder. Since then the Buffs have knocked off a middle of the pack Oklahoma squad, while the boys from Lawrence allowed Baylor to put up 90 and lost to Texas. The reason this will stay close is because the Buffs are guard dominant, which gives them the ability the get through the Kansas press consistently, something that most teams can’t do. I have no doubt that this one will end up being a blowout, but the Buffs will keep it close through halftime. KU by 20.
Clemson @ NC State teased to +9.5
This one comes down to how well teams in the ACC play at home, or put another way, it is damn tough to win on the road in the heart of conference play. The Wolfpack are tough to stop when playing at their RBC Center, and quite frankly, it doesn’t matter who they go up against. I look for this game to be a little slower pace than normal as each team will work the paint with State’s JJ Hickson(15.4 pts/ 8.4 boards) and Clemson’s Trevor Booker(11.3 pts/ 8 boards) respectively. This will be an evenly matched game and will come down to who can hit the kick out 3 on a consistent basis. I do see the Tigers prevailing, but never under-estimate that Wolfpack home crowd! Clemson by 2.
