NBA PLAYOFFS: (9-4)
SEASON MLB: (4-3)
It is Mothers Day, but thank goodness the sports world doesn’t take a breather on yet another Sunday Funday. On this Mothers Day I plan on doing three things…place my wagers early so it doesn’t look like my degenerate ways are consuming this special day, give my wife 3 inches at a time to show her how special she is, and most importantly, win more friggin’ games than I did yesterday….and with that I wish you a great Sunday mates!
Lake Show @ Utah -2
Everything in my bones wants me to believe that Colorado Kobe has the same supporting cast that he did a handful of years ago, but the facts show that he doesn’t. With that being said I am pretty convinced that they won’t win in Utah during the playoffs, and a 2 point opening line is almost as close to a straight up win as you can get. I knew Utah was good in Salt Lake, but when I started counting I was surprised to learn that Utah is 29-2 at home since the turn of the year. One of those losses came against Houston in the playoffs, and yes, the other to the Lakers. But we all know that home court means even more in the playoffs, and I don’t see Utah collapsing at this point in the game. Jazz by 8.
New Orleans @ San Antonio -6
As with the Jazz/Lakers series, this one is a tale of two stories when these teams travel across state lines. The Spurs finally brought out their championship attitude on Thursday, and I would expect more of the same today. If you look at the 3 games thus far, it shows that their D has been relatively consistent, but the big O, that’s offense perv, made a 25 point swing. The game plan as I see it is to have Bowen shut down Stojakovic, let Paul do his thing, and then use Duncan to feed Parker and Ginobli all day long. If Ginobli can find a way to grab 25 plus again, the Spurs roll. Spurs by 10.
Yankees +140 (-1.5runs) @ Detroit
The Yanks finally broke a 4 game losing streak against the Tigers yesterday, and with Pettite on the mound today & the Tigers starters acting like they should be in the minors, I see much of the same. ‘nuff said for me.
