2008 MLB RECORD: 16-14
Well fellas, all 3 of my picks fell on their face yesterday. Somehow, the Dodgers, Braves, and Twinkies all managed to win convincingly on the road on the same friggin' day. If I had the time to track it, I would post a wager that it wouldn't happen again the rest of the year. But the past is the past and all I know is that I am 0-3 going into today, and I traditionally finish out the weekend at least a game above .500. So ride me like I am your best friends mom! For those Father's out there, have a great day, and for those who don't think they have kids, if you are over 30, chances are you have one running around somewhere, so just pretend you have one and take the day for yourself!
I've got 2 for you on Sunday Funday!!
San Diego Padres @ Cleveland Indians +137(-1.5runs)
Sabathia toes to rubber for the Inidans today against Greg 'I was good 5 years ago' Maddux. Actually, Maddux isn't that bad and actually keeps things close, but the other 20-some players around him are horrific. The fact that Maddux only has 7 decisions shows that the Pads have not figured out how to get runs across the plate, and they definitely don't know how to do it on the road where they have only won 11 of 32. On top of that they only win 1 of every 3 against lefties. So it appears Sabathia will look like a Cy Young candidate today. Indians 5-2.
Atlanta Braves @ LA Angels +155(-1.5runs)
I am absolutely doubling up on the Angels today. Hot-lanta has gotten 2 of its 9 road wins against a damn good Angels team the last 2 days, I don't think it is even feasible to think that the Braves can win a third in a row. Especially with Joe Saunders on the mound for the Angels, who has posted a 9-3 record and just over a 3 ERA, he also happens to be a lefty which creates problems for the Braves. Quite honestly, my gut simply says that the Braves can't pull off 3 in a row on the road, since this weekend was only the 2nd time they could actually get 2 in a row. Angels explode 7-2.
I am going to stay away from the hoops action tonight. I really think that the Lakers will show why they got the #1 seed in the West, but they haven't shown that all series long. The Lake Show might be something to add into a multiple team parlay, but that's about it for me....
