WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS PREDICTION
While Dahntay Jones won't be able to stop him, I do believe he has the ability to slow him & the bodies behind him to bring out the whinning & bitching we luv to see from Kobe!
DENVER NUGGETS @ LOS ANGELES LAKERS (UNDA 215)
In their four match-ups this season (Lakers W 3-1), these two teams averaged a total of 195 ppg. And amazingly, in the Nuggets only victory against Kobe in late February, they held the Lakeshow to 79 and only scored 90 points themselves. While I expect to see a much higher scoring contest than that in LA tonight, I do believe the Zenmaster will make sure his somewhat spent squad doesn’t getting into a track meet with the well-rested Nuggets.
As for some of the specific match-ups, SG Dahntay Jones might be the most underrated wing defender and could keep the Black Bitching Mamba from exploding for a huge night. And if Jones stays out of foul-trouble, the unda looks even sweeter as Karl’s high-scoring bench option (SG J.R. Smith) might spend more time on the sideline. As for the other scoring star in this contest, while Carmelo has been more efficient then ever since Chauncey arrived, Trevor Ariza has the length & athleticism to keep the fromer Orangeman from breaking-out himself.
Down on the blocks, while Pau Gasol...TOUCH ME HERE
Down on the blocks, while Pau Gasol is always capable of putting up 20-25 a night just taking what the defense gives him, Denver has the size and bodies to keep him from getting too many easy buckets. Especially with the extra time the Nuggets had to set-up a game plan for their frontcourt, look for Gasol to be guarded by a variety of ballers similar to the way they attacked Dirk Nowitski (K-Mart, Nene, & the Birdman). In closing, while both teams are capable of running the floor and knocking down shots from deep, I have a feeling they’ll be feeling each other tonight. And with the Lakers on minimal rest and knowing Denver’s open-court strengths, I expect the Lakers to pull-off a 5-10 point victory and not break the 110 barrier...
